It’s clear that the precarious privatization contracting model upon which most human service organizations rely is no longer financially tenable, says Peter Goldberg, Alliance president and CEO.
A follow-up to the article in this issue will appear in Issue 1 – 2010. It will provide an in-depth look at the future of human services financing.
“Whether it means better pricing, more pointed advocacy, or other vigorous measures, it is not adequate to dream of a rescue and hope for the best,” Goldberg says. “It is our responsibility to forcefully and proactively take on this issue and the concern it causes.”
The upcoming article will include examples of how member organizations, state associations, and the Alliance and UNCA are working toward sweeping reforms; information about how some states are using alternative, more transparent systems for setting rates; and information about the public policy office’s new effort to analyze child welfare rate setting in various states across the country.
